Svensk Byggkontroll is an industry-wide control system to stop fraud and work-related crime in the construction and installation industry. The controls also serve as a support for companies that want to do the right thing.
Who We Are
Svensk Byggkontroll is a separate unit at Byggnads that works to ensure that companies pay the correct wages and compensations. Those who carry out the controls have special training for the task. Even union representatives at larger companies work according to the model.
Our Mission
The purpose of Svensk Byggkontroll is that both you as a business owner and you who work in the construction and installation industry should feel confident that there is order in the industry, that companies compete on equal terms and that employees recieves the correct salary and compensation.
This is how the review process works
By systematically carrying out so called advanced reviews on companies, Svensk Byggkontroll is able to find and remove cheating and criminal actors from the industry.
Svensk Byggkontroll is a seperate unit within Byggnads. The unit works exclusively with making sure that companies pay correct wages and compensation in line with collective bargaining agreement.
Larger companies, that are members of an employer organisation, can let elected union representatives carry out the advanced reviews. The representatives will then be educated by Byggnads in our methodology.
The methodology includes reviewing documentation such as pay slips, time reports, employment contracts, salary payments and tax payments.
Byggnads requires companies to submit most of the aforementioned documentation within three weeks of being notified of the intent to carry out an advanced review.
If the company does not submit the documentation, the next step will be a dispute negotiation.
Should any suspicions of serious crimes arise, they will be reported to a committee made up of representatives from both the union and employer organizations. They can decide to conduct additional investigations, or decide to submit the information in a report to the relevant government authorities.
Companies which do not rectify errors which are discovered during an advanced review may be subject to further actions, such as dispute negotiations or losing the ability to be employed as sub-contractors to companies with a collective bargaining agreement.
